Zabe Design, Day 1

Introduction to Zabe Design...

On August 7, 2009 was my first official meeting with Sean Renault, owner of Zabe Design.

The introduction to Zabe Design began with a brief history of the company and an overview of products and services which include graphic design, company logo design, website design, web development, search engine optimization services, hosting, and virtual tours.

Sean started the business in 2004 with his wife Estela, selling graphic and logo design services. Soon they expanded the business to include website development from content creation to web publishing. Services were offered at an affordable rate, with a fast turnaround, and attention to quality and detail. Zabe Design is able to maintain a low cost, high quality product by producing content with a low overhead- with no corporate offices, their family run business consists of a staff of two; Sean, who runs the business, and his wife Estela, who produces graphic design and logo design services. Additional services are provided through freelance partners, broadening the list of services offered, including virtual tours, search engine optimization services, photography, writing, even custom software such as mobile device and iPhone apps.

My proposal to Sean was to offer video production as an additional service for his clients. My approach would be in line with Zabe Design's low cost, low overhead model, producing video content independently at a very affordable rate for small businesses. I can produce, direct, shoot, edit, and deliver video content independently, providing a unique perspective and detail oriented approach without the usually high level production requirements.

We discussed my 'guerrilla style' approach to video production- I don't need a crew, and shooting will be fast, fun and relevant. I will produce and edit the video, focussing on quality, with a quick turnaround. My goal is to delight anyone who has worked with video production services in the past with my simple and light approach, while making it easy for anyone who has never considered video to enjoy the benefits of video content at an affordable price.

We also discussed the option of producing "video tile" services on client websites. Sean introduced me to the video tile service, which consists of a 'cut-out' character that pops up on the website and talks to the viewer. Production requirements for video tiles are a video of the host/model on a green screen background, talking to the camera about relevant content. The green screen background would later be keyed out (made transparent), allowing the video character to appear in the website, embedded and integrated into the content of the website with the use of the Adobe Flash software.
